As motorhome and campervan users are often keen walkers, we are pleased to bring you a review of these Regatta Mens Garsdale Mid Breathable Walking Boots.

Available from Outdoor Look at just £27 these are budget boots aimed at the casual walker.

I initially tried these out over a weekend in the Brecon Beacons and overall I was satisfied with them. They are most suitable for casual low level walking and although I found them comfortable for a day's hike, the ankle support is a little lacking as might be expected in a traditional 'mid' style boot..

The pair weigh around 1.1kg. and with the Isotex waterproof and breathable membrane are classed as waterproof. My feet certainly remained dry after a couple of heavy downpours.

However, after 18 month's occasional use, clocking up only around 100 miles of varied terrain, the boots are now showing signs of serious shortcomings. On one the outer sole is starting to detach from the upper and the upper nubuck material has spit. See photos. Other downsides are that the soles do not seem to offer much in the way of grip, in fact I found they had very poor grip indeed on muddy trails, they are also not self cleaning and suffer from mud build up. The boots also developed an annoying squeak from the soles on hard surfaces.

Due to these failings I am now unable to recommend these boots and suggest that prospective purchasers look for something more upmarket, even for occasional use.
