Swift wins top motorhome and tourer at 2018 awards

Swift Group reigns supreme winning Tourer of the Year and Motorhome of the Year on a night of unprecedented success at the Practical Caravan and Practical Motorhome 2018 Awards.

The trophies were among six won by Swift, Europe’s No1 brand for leisure vehicles, on the night.

The biggest awards
Swift walked away with the Motorhome of the Year for its Escape 604 model and also won the Tourer of the Year for the newly transformed Swift Sprite Major 6 – an award for which it was “the runaway winner” according to the judges.

But the night brought success also for the revolutionary new Swift Basecamp – a smaller, crossover camping vehicle built for adventure – and a host of other products including the Bessacarr 599.

Swift Commercial Director Nick Page hailed it a “tremendous achievement”.

“These awards are recognition of the hard work invested by everyone at Team Swift in developing, designing and delivering our new 2018 products.”

Tourer of the Year
The Swift Sprite is the UK’s best-selling caravan range. It has won the Owner Satisfaction Award, held in association with the Camping and Caravanning Club and Practical Caravan, for two successive years.

What makes the 2018 Tourer of the Year award so important is the fact Swift has completely redesigned the Sprite for the 2018 season – an evolution noted by Practical Caravan editor Niall Hampton.

"From front to back, and everything else in between, our Tourer of the Year has been transformed for 2018,” said Niall. “This is an already excellent product that has been made better in every area.”

Swift’s Nick Page commented: “When launching the redesigned Sprite, we expected its popularity to reach new heights and become a serious rival to more expensive ranges. With the awarding of Tourer of the Year, our aims are well on the way to being realised.”

Motorhome of the Year
Swift claimed the Motorhome of the Year award for the second year in a row with the Escape 604 emerging victorious at the 2018 event. The Escape saw off competition from 28 other motorhomes that made the shortlist.

"Swift’s best-selling single coachbuilt range has now been made even greater, thanks to the little 604," said Practical Motorhome Editor Sarah Wakely.

The Swift team was also delighted to secure the Best Motorhome for Couples with the Swift Bessacarr 599, a new layout. Like the Swift Sprite, the Bessacarr range has been reimagined for 2018 with a stylish and luxurious redesign.
