All new Camping and Caravanning Club iOS app
The Camping and Caravanning Club has relaunched its award-winning magazine iPad edition, making it available for all iOS devices for the first time – and it’s now free of charge to members.
What’s more, from mid-July, an Android version will also be available to members, to coincide with the August issue of the Club magazine.
The latest tablet version of the Club’s official magazine Camping & Caravanning, which was first published in print in 1907 and is available each month to all Club members, features a raft of improvements.
It includes a downloadable copy of Camping & Caravanning, plus other ‘collections’ of content, making it easier for readers to quickly find stories that are of the most interest to them. Those with an internet connection can also link through to the Club’s magazine website and YouTube channel for further, rich content.
The new app automatically works out which device is being used, and will optimise magazine content accordingly for the best user experience possible.
Simon McGrath, Editor-in-Chief, said: “We’re really pleased Camping & Caravanning’s tablet edition is now free and will be available exclusively to members on more devices than ever before.”
The July 2016 issue of the magazine is the first to be showcased on the new look app for iOS devices.
Figures recently released by the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC), covering the period January to December 2015, reveal that the magazine’s combined circulation (print and digital) averaged 256,260 per month last year.
The existing online, PDF turn-page edition of the magazine is available to members of the Club, and was first launched in spring 2014. It was included in the latest ABC reporting for the first time, and achieved an average circulation of 40,534 per month, making it the second most widely distributed magazine brand in the digital league table in the UK. Overall, circulation grew 5% year on year.
The digital edition of the magazine, and the app, were developed as an integral component of the Club’s online membership offering. This costs £37 a year and offers campers all of the benefits of paper membership, only with correspondence, magazine, campsite directory and other information produced and shared digitally, rather than in print.
Darren Whittington, the Club’s Membership Services Director, said: “As of June, over a quarter of our members have opted for our online membership, which offers the same package of benefits as paper membership but in an online format, for a discounted price.
“This revised version of the app will make it easier for online members to engage with content in our award winning magazine.”*
